Ready to grow your freelance career? Worksuite's Marketplace is where opportunities find you—and where you find the perfect projects that match your skills and schedule. This guide walks you through browsing, understanding, and applying for opportunities on Worksuite.
What Are Opportunities?
Opportunities are projects, jobs, or tasks that clients post on Worksuite looking for freelancers like you. Think of the Marketplace as your personal job board—it's where clients describe what they need, the skills required, budget, timeline, and more. When you find an opportunity that fits, you apply and wait for the client to review your profile and decide whether to move forward.
Opportunities appear in the Worksuite Marketplace and are updated regularly. The more complete your profile and the stronger your ratings, the more likely clients will notice you when you apply. Note that your Client might not make public opportunities.Browsing Available Opportunities
The Marketplace is built for browsing and discovery. Here's how to find opportunities that match you:
- Log into your Worksuite account and navigate to the Marketplace.
- Use the search bar to enter keywords (e.g., "web design," "copywriting," "data entry").
- Filter by relevant criteria:
- Skills—Select skills that match your expertise to see matching opportunities.
- Location—Filter by geographic region if location matters for the project.
- Availability—Choose opportunities that fit your current availability (part-time, full-time, hourly).
- Budget Range—View opportunities within your desired pay range.
- Browse the results. Opportunities are listed with key details like title, client rating, and project timeline.
Tip: Save opportunities you're interested in to review later. You can also bookmark listings to compare multiple options before applying.
Understanding an Opportunity Listing
Before you apply, take time to review the opportunity listing. Here's what you'll typically find and what to look for:
- Project Title & Description—A clear overview of what the client needs. Read carefully to ensure it matches your skills.
- Required Skills—The specific skills the client is looking for. Compare these with your profile—the better the match, the stronger your application.
- Budget & Payment Terms—How much the client is willing to pay and whether it's hourly, fixed-price, or project-based.
- Timeline & Deadline—When the project starts and when it needs to be completed. Make sure you can commit to the schedule.
- Client Information—The client's name, rating, location, and history on Worksuite. Higher-rated clients are typically more reliable.
- Detailed Requirements—Any special tools, deliverables, or conditions the client specifies.
- Application Deadline—The date by which you need to apply. Don't miss it!
Note: Read the entire listing, including the fine print. If anything is unclear, you can message the client directly through the platform to ask questions before applying. How to Apply for an Opportunity
Once you've found an opportunity you're excited about, applying is straightforward. Follow these steps:
- Click on the opportunity listing to open the full details.
- Review the complete description, requirements, and client profile one more time.
- Click the Apply button (usually located prominently on the listing).
- Worksuite will review your profile against the opportunity:
- Your listed skills are compared to the required skills.
- Your availability is checked against the project timeline.
- Your ratings and portfolio are visible to the client.
- Optionally, add a cover message to the client. This is your chance to introduce yourself, explain why you're a great fit, and highlight relevant past work. Keep it brief (2-3 sentences) and professional.
- Click Submit Application to send it to the client.
Pro tip: A personalized cover message that shows you understand the client's specific needs increases your chances of being selected. Generic applications are less likely to stand out. After You Apply: What Happens Next
You've submitted your application—now what? Here's the typical timeline:
- Immediate—Your application is sent to the client. You'll receive a confirmation notification.
- 24-72 Hours—The client reviews all applications they've received. They may view your profile, portfolio, and ratings to assess fit.
- Response Options—The client has several choices:
- Invite you to a conversation to discuss the project further.
- Invite you directly to the project (meaning you're hired).
- Pass on your application and move forward with another freelancer.
- Send you a message asking clarifying questions.
- Messaging—If the client reaches out, respond promptly and professionally. This is your chance to seal the deal.
- Acceptance—Once invited to a project, you can accept or decline. If you accept, the project details and payment terms are confirmed.
Note: Application review timelines vary. Some clients respond within hours; others may take a week or more. If you don't hear back after a reasonable time, it's fair to send a polite follow-up message to the client.Tips for a Strong Application
Your application is your first impression. Here's how to make it count:
- Complete Your Profile—A profile with a professional photo, detailed bio, listed skills, and a portfolio is significantly more likely to catch a client's eye. Don't leave fields blank.
- Highlight Relevant Skills—Make sure your top skills are listed and match what the opportunity requires. If you have related experience, mention it in your cover message.
- Include Examples of Past Work—Add portfolio items, case studies, or links to past projects that demonstrate your capabilities. Clients want to see what you can do.
- Be Honest About Availability—Only apply for opportunities you can genuinely commit to. Clients value reliability.
- Write a Personalized Cover Message—Show the client you've read their listing and understand their needs. A message like "I noticed you need expertise in X—I've successfully delivered similar projects for Y and Z clients" is far more compelling than silence.
- Maintain a Strong Rating—Deliver quality work, communicate clearly, and meet deadlines. Your Worksuite rating is a trust signal to future clients.
Troubleshooting: Can't Find or Apply for Opportunities
I don't see any opportunities in the Marketplace.
- Check your filters—you may have set them too narrowly. Try broadening your skill, location, or availability filters.
- Ensure your profile includes relevant skills. Opportunities are more visible to freelancers whose profiles match the requirements.
- Refresh the page and try searching again. New opportunities are posted regularly.
- The Client you're signed up for might not make public opportunities, contact them to make sure how to obtain more work with them.
I found an opportunity but the Apply button is disabled or greyed out.
- Your profile may be incomplete. The application may require you to add specific skills, a portfolio item, or additional information first.
- The application deadline may have passed. Check the listing for the cutoff date.
- You may already have applied to this opportunity. You can't submit a second application.
- The opportunity may require a minimum rating or profile completion percentage that you haven't yet reached.
I applied but haven't heard back from the client.
- Clients review applications at different speeds. Give them 48-72 hours before following up.
- Send a polite, brief message to the client: "Hi [Client Name], I applied for your [Opportunity Title] project and wanted to confirm you received my application. Happy to answer any questions!"
- Continue browsing and applying to other opportunities in the meantime. Don't wait for one response.
I keep getting rejected from opportunities even though I'm qualified.
- Strengthen your profile: add more portfolio items, ask satisfied clients for ratings, and write a compelling bio.
- Personalize your cover message for each application. Show the client why you specifically are the right fit.
- Make sure your rates are competitive for the type of work you're applying for.
- Consider applying for opportunities that are a closer match to your current experience level. Build up your Worksuite rating with easier projects first.
